My name is Marika and together with my husband, we are the founders of the Calipsy brand. Let me briefly tell you where it all started...

My interest in crocheting began during my childhood when my mother was knitting or crocheting, and I, as a curious child, kept watching her. I was so fascinated by what she was doing, that I wanted to learn it too! When I was a teenager, I asked my mom to show me something. As it turned out later, it was a bull's-eye because I found my passion with crocheting.

At first, I was making simple projects, but later my imagination gave me more and more interesting and complicated ideas. A few years passed by like that. Although crocheting brought me a lot of joy, I did not always have time for it because of my work and studies...

I returned to this passion at the least expected moment - during motherhood. A few months before childbirth, I found some beautiful examples of products from chunky merino wool. At this point, I remembered what I had been doing in the past, for a few years. I was so excited that I ordered the materials and returned to my old hobby on the same day :) I was a bit afraid that after the birth I would not have time to crochet again and that I was out of practice... but it turned out to be the exactly opposite! I'm a very active person, so despite all the sleepless nights, I had power and motivation for this additional activity. What's more - it turned out that this work allows me to relax, so I have even more energy for my baby!

When our friends were visiting us, my woolen products always caught their attention and they often asked where I've got them from. They were surprised when I answers that I did them by myself, and they usually asked if I would find some time to make something for them as well. That made me think that I would start offering my products to others. So, I told my husband about the idea...

Luckily for me, he understood how important that was to me, and also he said he can help with technical stuff. Together, we created this store.

This way our passions are still going today... and the best part of it is that we both do what we love, deliver things that people enjoy and which make their lives, at least to a certain degree, better.
